Where it all started

Where it all started

It was a great joy to find this in the Gurr Archive  - or "our garage" as my wife somewhat disparagingly calls it. This is the original collage that, when photocopied, became the cover of the first Hanging Around fanzine. Hanging Around No.1 came out in the summer of 1977, sold for the princely sum of 10p.  and featured The Stranglers, Buzzcocks, The Clash, The Vibrators, Nils Lofgren and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.

Hello from Hanging Around Books

In 2016 a number of events aligned and conspired to bring about the birth of Hanging Around Books. Firstly, I was delighted to be able to reconnect with a number of photographers I had worked with in my previous lives as a music journalist and press officer with Virgin Records. On seeing their archives, it occurred to me that here lay some photographic gems and images that deserved to be seen by a wider public.
