THIS MUCH IS TRUE : SPANDAU BALLET 1981

£11.95

Hanging Around Books' eleventh release (HA011), "This Much Is True : Spandau Ballet 1981" features rare and previously unseen photographs of the band taken by Justin Thomas at various London locations - primarily the capital's most stylish and fashionable nightclubs.

As Justin writes in his introduction:

"I never took a photograph of Spandau Ballet in the light of day. We were always in clubs or meeting up at parties; cockney boys on a jolly. Martin, Spiny and John, two drinks in their hands, were always the most approachable, whereas Gary and Tony were the guv’nors."
"A good time was always guaranteed in the band’s company. I was always bumping into them at ‘ligs’ like the one for Imagination at Coconut Grove in London. Steve Strange was there on the night, just as he was for my favourite memory in Spandau’s company; an incredible night on a floating gin palace to celebrate their new album ‘True’ going to Number 1 in the UK charts.
We cruised up and down the Thames all night with everyone from George Michael, Andrew Ridgeley and Sade, to Joe Brown, Anthony Price and Christos Tolera from Blue Rondo á la Turk, not to mention the band’s huge extended family. We drank the bar dry, listening to Marvin all night long.
