THE LIGHT THAT NEVER GOES OUT - THE SMITHS 1984/86

£11.95

Hanging Around Books are delighted to announce that our latest release features Stephen Wright's iconic images of The Smiths.

Stephen, whose "Salford Lads Club" photograph of the band was an era-defining image, has opened up his archive to us and these are gathered together for the first time in a collection that will be released on August 5th.

As Stephen states in his introduction to this release:

"Over the years some of these shots have appeared in numerous newspapers, magazines and books but, to me, they are images that bring back great memories of just some of the many musicians I shot at the start of my career as a photographer. Initially based in Manchester, I spent a lot of time frequenting the fabled Hacienda club and the Manchester Apollo. I was lucky enough to work with a long list of great artists during those years but it’s the photographs I took of The Smiths that have become the most iconic in their own right. It’s odd that one posed photo on a damp winter day in Salford should haunt me for the next 30 years and it’s great to see the very best of my Smiths collection curated here together for the first time."
