SOUTH OF BABYLON: THE RUTS 1978-1979

£9.95

Hanging Around Book's next release will be "South Of Babylon: The Ruts 1978-1979”  (HA024). Featuring many rare and previously unseen photographs of both the band and their fans, the photozine will be released and on general sale from the website on May 27th.

We've had lots of requests for a Ruts release, so there's sure to be a heavy demand for copies of the limited first edition printing of 250 copies. Copies are available to pre-order now.

Please note - all pre-orders will be posted out from Tuesday May 28th due to UK post offices being closed on the Bank Holiday of Monday 27th.

As photographer Virginia Turbett writes in an excerpt from her introduction to the photozine:

"I first met The Ruts in December, 1978 photographing them for an article for Sounds. We walked down Long Acre to Leicester Square taking photos in a joke shop and amusement arcade. They were sweet, funny young men from West London. They gave me a copy of 'In A Rut, their first single and it blew my socks off.   The B side, 'H-Eyes', was as powerful as the A side, but with a prophetic message that still sends a shiver down the spines of all of us who  love them 41 years later."
"The world is a better place for having The Ruts and Ruts DC in it. They are smart, kind, politically astute and angry people who I’ve loved photographing over the last 40 years. I still listen to their music, (their latest album, ‘Music Must Destroy’ is utterly brilliant), I wear their tee-shirts and sing along loudly at their gigs. Seeing them live is just as exciting as it was in ‘78 - as everyone who saw them on the recent 'Crack 40th Anniversary tour will attest."
