THE WALT JABSCO GANG - 2 TONE 1979-83
This release comes from the great Justin Thomas' archive and features many of his rare and previously unseen images of 2 Tone bands captured between 1979 and 1983.
As Justin writes in his introduction to this collection:
"After the overly serious years of Punk, a huge ray of sunshine came to brighten up the end of the 70s in the form of 2 Tone. Here was joy unlimited; feel-good music to put a smile on your face and get your hips moving with serious messages underlying in the songs."
"I’d always loved Ska and Reggae, so when I saw The Specials play The Lyceum in London in May of 1979 I was blown away by both their vitality and their musicianship. For the first time since the 60s here were a handful of mixed race groups who had important things to say about Thatcher’s Britain. It was a photographer’s heaven - loads of onstage and offstage action, much leaping around and some natty threads too."
